An impregnation spray restores the surface repellency to water and dirt: rain beads up and rolls off again, and the material keeps breathing. Mountval sprays are grouped by material and by the way they are applied. One thing to know from the start: the treatment protects the surface, but it does not make the item waterproof and it does not repair a damaged membrane.

Footwear or clothing?
Leather, suede and nubuck are covered by footwear impregnation sprays, while jackets, trousers, backpacks and tents need textile sprays. The universal Mountval Waterproof 200 ml and Mountval Waterproof 400 ml suit both.
Spray on or wash in?
Spray-on products work when you only need to treat part of an item, or footwear. Mountval Waterproofing Refresher 300 ml is poured into the rinse compartment of the washing machine and treats the whole item evenly, so it suits large jackets and tents better.
When should you re-treat?
When water stops beading up and starts darkening the surface. Before treatment the item has to be cleaned or washed, otherwise the coating forms unevenly.

Is there an impregnation spray for a Gore-Tex item?
In this group the manufacturer states GORE-TEX compatibility directly only for Waterproofing Refresher. For the other products we write only what the manufacturer confirms.
How long does the treatment last?
It depends on how intensively the item is used and how often it is washed. There is one practical sign: when water no longer beads up, it is time to repeat.
Can you treat a dirty item?
No. The coating does not form evenly on dirt, and some manufacturers state this separately. Cleaning or washing comes first.
Does an impregnation spray seal torn seams?
No. No care product restores tears, leaking seams or a damaged membrane; that takes a repair or seam tape.
