Washing, cleaning and freshening products
-
Ordinary powder and fabric softener cost technical clothing its properties: the fabric picks up residue, breathes worse and wets out sooner. This group holds the products that clean without closing off the fabric, plus footwear cleaners and odour neutralisers for the places where washing is impossible.
How to choose, comparison and frequently asked questions
How do you choose a detergent?
By fibre: Mountval Wash & Care 315 ml for membrane and technical textiles, Mountval Polar Wash 300 ml for fleece and softshell, Mountval Wool Wash 300 ml for wool and merino, Mountval Down Wash 300 ml for down. There is no single detergent for all of these fibres.
When to clean and when to freshen?
If the problem is dirt or stains, you need a cleaner or a detergent. If the item is clean but smells, fresheners are the answer: Mountval Silver Freshness 315 ml for washable clothing, Mountval Odour Absorber 100 ml for the inside of boots, Mountval Helmet Clean & Fresh 100 ml for helmets and gloves.

Can you wash technical clothing with ordinary powder?
It is not recommended. Powder and softener leave residue that draws in moisture and reduces breathability, so the jacket wets out sooner even though the membrane is intact.
Does a detergent restore water repellency?
Not directly. It removes dirt and detergent residue, while the water repellency is renewed by an impregnation spray.
Do these products disinfect?
No. Odour neutralisers neutralise the smell, but we make no disinfection claims for them, because the manufacturer provides no biocidal substantiation.
