Mountval Gel Cleaner 100 ml is a cleaning gel with a built in brush applicator. It is intended for textile, suede, nubuck, smooth leather and synthetic leather, and also for outdoor, mountain and everyday footwear, including footwear with membranes. It helps to remove dirt, stains and marks both mechanically and chemically, and the formula is colourless.

What problem does it solve?
A stain that has set into nubuck or into a textile boot does not come off with a cloth alone: you need both a cleaner and a mechanical brush, and you rarely carry two items with you. Mountval Gel Cleaner 100 ml combines both in one bottle. A limit: the statement that it does not damage the DWR finish is a manufacturer claim, not the result of an independent test.
When and on what should you use it?
- For local footwear stains that have set in.
- For suede and nubuck footwear that needs gentle mechanical cleaning.
- For outdoor, mountain and everyday footwear, including footwear with membranes.
- Before impregnation, when the surface has to be completely clean.

How do you use it step by step?
- Brush the excess dirt off with a dry brush.
- Pressing the bottle lightly, spread the gel in circular movements until it foams.
- Wipe the rest off with a damp cloth.
- Let it dry naturally, away from direct heat.
- Once suede and nubuck are dry, raise the nap with a suitable brush.
Very little gel is needed: the layer only has to foam up, not to soak the footwear.
What is this product not suitable for?
- This is a cleaner, not an impregnation product. It gives no water repellency, a separate product is needed after cleaning.
- Not suitable for large areas. For a whole shoe and for several materials the cleaning foam is handier.
- Not suitable for patent leather, unless the care label of the item allows it.
- Do not dry it near heat. Direct heat can deform the leather and the glued seams.

Is Mountval Gel Cleaner suitable for suede?
Yes, but suede and nubuck are sensitive, especially in bright colours. A test on a hidden area is a must before cleaning, and once the surface is dry the nap has to be raised with a brush.
Will the cleaner damage the DWR finish?
The manufacturer states that it does not. We present this as a manufacturer claim, not as the result of an independent test.
How does it differ from the Shampoo foam?
Gel Cleaner has a brush and is made for local stains that have set in. Mountval Shampoo 100 ml is handier for cleaning a whole shoe and for salt marks.
Do I need to impregnate after cleaning?
Yes, if you want the surface to repel water. Cleaning itself gives no protection.
Is it suitable for footwear with membranes?
Yes. The manufacturer names outdoor, mountain and everyday footwear, including footwear with membranes.
