Cleaning is the first care step and the one most often skipped. On dirty footwear an impregnation spray soaks in unevenly, and in winter salt marks eat into leather and textile. Mountval offers two different answers: a foam for general cleaning and a gel with a brush for stubborn stains.

Foam or gel with a brush?
Mountval Shampoo 100 ml is a solvent-free foam for general cleaning of several materials and for salt marks. Mountval Gel Cleaner 100 ml has a built-in brush, so it works better on local, stubborn stains.
What comes after cleaning?
Let the footwear dry completely, brush up the nap on suede and nubuck, then renew the protection: Mountval Protector 300 ml or, for oiled leather, Mountval Oil Protector 300 ml.
What does a cleaner not do?
It gives no water repellency. A clean boot without an impregnation spray soaks up water just as it did before cleaning.

Do the cleaners suit suede and nubuck?
Yes, both of them. But suede and nubuck, especially in bright colours, are sensitive, so a test on a hidden area is a must, and the surface has to be brushed up once it is dry.
Does cleaning damage the DWR coating?
The manufacturer states that it does not. We pass this on as a manufacturer claim, not as the result of an independent test.
Can you wash boots with water?
Do not soak footwear. Too much water harms glued seams and the inner lining, so clean with a damp cloth or a sponge.
