Footwear impregnation sprays protect the surface of your boots against water, snow and dirt. Within the Mountval line they differ by leather type and by the way they are applied: there are aerosols, mechanical pump sprays and oil-based formulas for oiled leather. All of them are made to work without closing off the breathability of the leather.

How do you choose by leather type?
Oiled leather is covered by Mountval Oil Protector 300 ml, mixed hiking footwear of leather, suede, nubuck and microfibre by Mountval Protector 300 ml, and when the same product has to serve both boots and a jacket, Mountval Waterproof 200 ml or Mountval Waterproof 400 ml will do.
Aerosol or pump spray?
An aerosol covers faster and reaches the seams more easily, but it needs good ventilation. A pump spray is more convenient indoors and lets you control the amount more precisely.
What does the spray not do?
It does not make boots waterproof, it does not clean off dirt and it does not restore a damaged membrane. Light or brightly dyed leather has to be tested on a hidden area before use.

Which spray suits suede boots?
Suede is covered by Mountval Protector 300 ml and the universal Waterproof aerosols. With brightly coloured suede, test a hidden area first, because factory finishes differ.
Will the spray darken the leather?
Colourless formulas do not change the colour, but oil-based ones, for example Mountval Oil Protector 300 ml, often darken leather. That is a property of the formula, not a defect.
Do you have to clean boots before treating them?
Yes. Use Mountval Shampoo 100 ml for general cleaning or Mountval Gel Cleaner 100 ml for local stains, then let them dry and only after that apply the spray.
