Every technical fibre is washed differently: a membrane fears residue, wool fears enzymes, down fears losing its natural oils and fleece fears softener. That is why this group holds four different detergents instead of one universal one. Choose by the fibre of the item, not by the brand.

Which detergent for which fibre?
Mountval Wash & Care 315 ml for membrane and water-repellent textiles; Mountval Polar Wash 300 ml for fleece, softshell, synthetic fibre, viscose and cotton; Mountval Wool Wash 300 ml for merino wool, cashmere and angora; Mountval Down Wash 300 ml for natural and synthetic down.
Why no fabric softener?
Softener coats the fibre with a film. A membrane jacket stops breathing, fleece loses its moisture management and down clumps together. It suits none of these items.
What comes after washing?
If the item has to repel water, it needs impregnation once it is dry: spray-on Mountval Textile Shield 300 ml or wash-in Mountval Waterproofing Refresher 300 ml.

Does one detergent suit everything?
No. Wool needs an enzyme-free formula, down needs its natural oils kept, and a membrane needs the fabric left open. Those are three different requirements.
What temperature should you wash at?
Always the one on the care label of the item. Wool and down are washed at a low temperature, and wool items are safest dried flat.
Does the detergent renew the DWR coating?
No. It removes the residue that gets in the way of the coating, but the coating itself is renewed by an impregnation spray.
